Terms & Conditions of Sale

Please read and understand these terms of sale, prior to placing your order with us.

1. Introduction

Welcome to www.ethicalstonehome.co.uk (the “Site” or “Website”).

This Website is operated by The Ethical Stone Company Limited, a company based in the United Kingdom. Throughout the Site, the terms “we”, “us”, and “our” refer to The Ethical Stone Company Limited. We provide this Website, along with all information, tools, and services available through it, for your use subject to the terms, conditions, policies, and notices set out here.

By visiting our Website or purchasing products from us, you (“Customer”) are using our services (the “Service”) and agree to these Terms and Conditions (“Terms”), as well as any additional policies or notices referenced or linked within them. These Terms apply to all users of the Site, including visitors, customers, merchants, and anyone who contributes content.

Please take a moment to read these Terms carefully before using our Website or services. If you do not agree with these Terms, our Privacy Policy, or any other related policies, you should not use the Site or our services.

2. Receipt and Inspection

We will of course do our utmost to ensure that items are packed carefully and securely to avoid any possible damage in transit.

Goods despatched by The Ethical Stone Company Ltd. using a carrier, courier, post office or any other means must be inspected and signed for on delivery. Any damage or shortage should be notified immediately to our office by phone on 0207 354 5590 or by email info@ethicalstonecompany.co.uk.

The Ethical Stone Company Ltd. will not be responsible for damage reported after that period.

IMPORTANT! Please sign delivery notes accordingly. No claim for compensation can be made once the delivery note has been signed “received in good condition”.

Carrier’s delivery notes should be marked “unchecked/damaged” if damage to the packaging is obvious or if there is a shortage in the number of packages.

A digital copy of that note should be sent to The Ethical Stone Company Limited. immediately.

Please note that you will be responsible for the cost and risk of loss or damage when returning the goods to us or our suppliers, so you should take out enough postal insurance to cover their value.

3. Immediate Action on Receipt of Goods

  1. To protect the flagstones from damage during the delivery process we put corrugated cardboard between the flagstones. Please make sure you remove the cardboard straight away. If the cardboard gets damp or wet it can leave staining on the flagstones.
  2. All materials once delivered should be kept completely dry. On no account must installation commence if the flagstones are damp. If they become damp then they must be thoroughly dried out before being installed.
  3. Once your order is delivered the flagstones should be removed from the pallets as soon as possible. Failure to do this can result in shading, or browning marks appearing on the face of the flagstones.

4. Returns Policy

Your statutory rights under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 are not affected.

All of our products are made to order and produced specifically to your instructions, as we do not hold stock. If your order arrives with a fault or defect, you may cancel your purchase and return the goods within 7 working days of delivery.

To be eligible for a return, items must be:

  • Unused
  • In their original packaging
  • In a resaleable condition

To arrange a return, please contact us by email or telephone, quoting your order reference.

Once your cancellation has been confirmed, your refund will be issued within 30 days, provided the goods are returned to us (or our suppliers) and received in the same condition as when they were originally dispatched.

Please note that you are responsible for the cost of returning the goods, as well as any risk of loss or damage during transit. We recommend using a tracked and insured delivery service to cover the full value of the item.

Unfortunately, we are unable to accept or restock any items that are returned damaged.

5. Cancellation by the Customer

You may cancel your order within 14 working days of receiving your goods, without giving a reason and without penalty.

Bespoke items made to your specification and perishable goods cannot be cancelled or returned.

To cancel your order, please notify us in writing.

If you have already received the goods, you must return them at your own cost and risk. If delivery has already been arranged, please do not unpack the goods and arrange their return as soon as possible using the return details we provide. Any direct costs we incur as a result of the return will be deducted from your refund.

You are responsible for taking reasonable care of the goods. If items are returned damaged or in a worse condition, we may reduce your refund to reflect any loss in value.

Refunds will be issued within 14 days of cancellation, once the goods have been returned and received in their original condition.

This policy does not affect your legal rights if goods are faulty.

6. Cancellation by Us

In some circumstances, we may need to cancel your order. This may happen if:

  • The item is no longer available
  • We do not deliver to your location
  • A product was listed at an incorrect price due to a pricing or typographical error
  • We are unable to deliver due to unforeseen delivery issues

If we cancel your order, we will notify you by email and issue a full refund within 14 days. Unfortunately, we are unable to offer compensation beyond a refund.

7. Governing Law

These Terms and Conditions are governed by English law.

If you are a consumer, any disputes may be dealt with by the courts of England and Wales, although this does not affect any rights you may have under local consumer laws.

If you are purchasing as a business, any disputes or claims (including non-contractual matters) will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
